Plein Air derives from the French “en plein air” meaning “open in full air”. In this case it refers to the practice of painting outdoors in the style of 19th century impressionists. Plein Air Richmond was founded by Loryn Brazier in 2012 and is an annual event which benefits a non-profit organization. This blog follows 30 juried plein air artists from all over the country as they paint the beautiful and historic Richmond, VA. For more information, visit our website.
This year, we are thrilled to have Cartoonist Gary Brookins as our Plein Air Richmond Blogger. Gary is best known for his Pluggers and Shoe comics. Follow him as he recounts the adventures of 30 plein air artists as they paint the city June 20-26, 2016.
